励磁系统的作用如下：

　　1、根据发电机负荷的变化相应的调节励磁电流，以维持机端电压为给定值；

　　2、控制并联机组间无功功率的分配；

　　3、提高发电机并列运行的稳定性；

　　4、在发电机内部出现故障时，进行灭磁，以减小故障损失程度；

　　5、根据运行要求对发电机实行z大励磁限制及z小励磁限制。
