调压调速需要附加调压装置（如变压器、饱和电抗器等），使成本增加；若调压装置采用电力电子设备，则还会带来谐波污染及对三相感应电动机本身产生影响等危害。

三相感应电动机的启动和调速是电动机控制中比较重要的方面，下面简要介绍一下它们的实现方法。

启动方法：

（1）直接启动法：直接将电动机连接到电源，让电动机直接启动。这种方法简单易行，但是对电网冲击较大，需要特殊处理。

（2）自耦启动法：使用自耦来降低电动机的起动电流，减小对电网的冲击。自耦启动法的优点是起动电流小，但起动时间长，且效率较低。

（3）星角启动法：先用星型接法将电动机启动，待电动机达到速度后再切换为三角接法，实现较平稳的启动过程。

（4）变压器启动法：使用变压器将输入电压调节到较低水平，降低电动机的起动电流，实现平稳启动。
